The Wisconsin Forestry Center offers various services for hire in forestry and natural resources, especially in professional development, outreach, and applied research. We can help bring your ideas to fruition. Contact us to discuss your ideas.
WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS
Does your team need additional training to conduct their work more effectively? Or do you want to share your expertise with foresters or natural resource professionals? We can coordinate and develop customized workshops and trainings. We offer registration services, marketing, logistics support, and training development.
Format
We have experience providing training in a variety of formats including:
- On-site at your property, office/headquarters, or one of our field stations.
- Online via custom online courses, webinars, or training videos.
- On-air through podcasts.
Continuing Education
We can assist with submitting all trainings for pre-approval for continuing education credits from professional associations.
INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN
We have expertise in instructional design and course development, including developing learning objectives, assessments, creating course content, and evaluating outcomes.
OUTREACH AND COMMUNICATIONS
We can help with identifying target audiences, writing, editing, and graphic design for various media, including brochures, booklets, educational interpretive signs, and online media.
APPLIED RESEARCH
We welcome partnerships with stakeholders on research design, proposal writing, and project execution.
PREVIOUS PROJECTS
- UVM Program (2020-present): Administer the Utility Vegetation Management (UVM) and UVM Professional Certificate and credentialing course for the Utility Arborists Association and the Utility Vegetation Management Association.
- DNR Local Use Lumber Certificate (2022-present): Contracted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources-Division of Forestry to coordinate the Local Use Dimension Lumber Grading Certificate participant database, course marketing, and registration services.
- NRCS National Forestry Handbook (2022-present): Contracted by the USDA to manage a revision of the National Forestry and Agroforestry Handbook, a training manual for field staff.
- DNR New-Forester Training (2021-present): Served as instructional design consultants for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources-Division of Forestry New Forester Training Series for new hires, which includes six courses covering silvicultural topics and WisFIRS Public. Continue to contract with the DNR for course management via the learning management system Canvas.
- Women Woodland Owners (2022-2023): Collaborated with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources-Division of Forestry and the Aldo Leopold Foundation to develop Women Woodland Owners: A Forester’s Guide to Landowner Engagement, a resource for professional foresters, and the Wisconsin Women’s Woodland Gathering, a weekend retreat.
