The scholarship application process at UW-Stevens Point now expands your access to apply for all university-level scholarships with one straightforward application.
Search the UWSP Scholarship Portal by scholarship name, keywords or categories that are most relevant to you!
Awarded to a junior or senior major or minor in philosophy or philosophy-related program and/or to the student who received the Distinguished Achievement Award. Award of $400.
Awarded to a philosophy major within their first year with 30 credits or fewer. It is based on academic performance as measured by GPA in the major, overall GPA, and performance in philosophy major classes. There is no application. Award of $750.
Awarded to a philosophy major with the most outstanding essay in the areas of philosophy or religious studies. The Department of Philosophy Scholarship Committee selects the winner. Award of $750.
To apply: include the five areas below as part of your application.
1) Provide a numbered list of your philosophy classes taken.
2) Describe what drew you to this major.
3) Describe your extracurricular activities. (optional)
4) Describe awards you received for academic or extra-curricular activities. (Optional)
5) Submit a 5-7-page philosophy essay.
Awarded to a philosophy student who has demonstrated interest in the history and culture of women in the field of philosophy. Award of $2,500. The application process includes providing a numbered list of your philosophy classes taken and an explanation and upload of evidence (such as essays you have written or presentations you have given) of your demonstrated interest in the history and culture of women in the field of philosophy.
The Philosophy and Religious Studies Department faculty select four students and then choose books to present to them based on their areas of interest. There is no application.

Thanking your scholarship donor is an important part of the scholarship process. It is a requirement of University Foundation before receipt of the scholarship. Information on thanking your donor will be provided to you when your scholarship is awarded. Postage and mailing is handled by the College of Letters and Science.
