IMPROVE LIVES, ADVOCATE FOR CHANGE, AND IMPACT YOUR COMMUNITY

Our department aims to prepare students to understand how people, groups and institutions interact within and between societies. Students in both sociology and social work majors gain applied knowledge through field and research experience that is aligned with their interests, coordinated with faculty, and supervised by professionals in a variety of social service agencies and community-level organizations.

Sociology students prepare for careers in community and human services, law enforcement and criminal justice, public service, general business and management, and other careers that build on analytical skills and global and multicultural competencies.

As a professional program, our social work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The program prepares students to work with people from diverse backgrounds in a variety of situations and across many practice settings. Many social work students go on to pursue a Master’s degree in Social Work.
