With a degree in Graphic Design you will be able to navigate as an entrepreneur, work on teams, in management, production, or other design positions in corporate, non-profit, or private enterprises. Creative professionals are valued employees because they know how to problem-solve and think outside ‘the box’. We prepare you to leverage those creative skills in whatever career you choose.

WHAT TO EXPECT
- Design Internships
Internships are required for Graphic Design majors and many students choose more than one. We also offer London Internships during summer!
- Community Partners
Upper level Graphic Design students work with real clients in the community to gain experience in team work, in professional communication, and understanding key aspects in business.
- Competitions / Portfolio Reviews
Students are encouraged to enter local, regional, national, and international art and design competitions. Graphic Design students are invited get their portfolios reviewed by professionals working in the field at annual events in Stevens Point, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis.
- Exhibition Opportunities / Competitions
Art and Design hosts the annual Juried Student Exhibition where students at all levels can enter work and have the chance to win awards. Each year we also hold a Scholarship Competition with multiple awards given to excellence in each discipline, in leadership and service. Students get calls to enter local, regional, national and international art shows.
- Public Art / Community Work
The Carlsten Gallery Student Advisory Committee (CGSAC) holds an annual competition for students to create Public Artwork. Students gain experience with proposal writing, presentations, and working with a faculty mentor.
- Visiting Artists / Workshops
Every year we host different visiting artists who hold workshops and give lectures on campus. Student groups sponsor events and individuals also travel to attend talks or weekend workshops.
