Exploring Majors Degree
Major
IT’S OK TO BE UNDECIDED!
Starting or changing to an undecided major provides a great opportunity to begin or continue working on your general education courses while engaging in important major and career exploration. Your academic adviser in the Academic and Career Advising Center (ACAC) will take time to get to know you and provide guidance on taking courses and engaging in experiences that will help you decide on your major.

MAJOR AND CAREER EXPLORATION
Your adviser and other connections you create on campus will help guide you as you decide what your academic and career niche may be, but it is up to you to take the valuable time and energy to engage in exploration resources and experiences.
Get Involved on Campus
There are several ways to explore areas of interest outside of the classroom. Campus Activities and Student Engagement (CASE) provides information on campus events, student organizations, and ways to get involved in the surrounding community. Students often discover what they are most passionate about as they engage in these experiences.
Challenge yourself to choose at least three ways to get involved outside the classroom!
Gain Experience Outside the Classroom
You may not have a specific major and career in mind, but as part of your exploration journey you can begin to build your resume by getting involved on campus and in the community through volunteer and work or internship experiences. You may also learn about what you enjoy doing and you may not enjoy doing along the way.
To begin, create your UWSP Handshake profile on so you can see what opportunities you have! Plan to attend any of the career preparation workshops.
MEET WITH YOUR ADVISER
You do not need to walk this exploration process alone. Set up an appointment with your academic adviser at any time or visit your professors during office hours for classes you enjoy to learn more about the field and what career possibilities exist.
