LAUNCHING FALL 2024 – The Child Advocacy Studies Certificate is a three-course program that aims to teach foundational and advanced skills and knowledge to prevent child maltreatment and to identify, assess, intervene, and evaluate children and families involved in child welfare systems as well as survivors of child maltreatment. A multidisciplinary approach is used to recognize, respond, and advocate for children, families, and survivors.

The certificate is administered by Department of Sociology and Social Work.

Consists of 9 credits.

Courses Required in the Certificate:

  • SW 316 – Child Welfare Practice
  • SW 317 – Advanced Assessment and Intervention in Child Welfare
  • SW 318 – Responding to Survivors of Child Maltreatment
