Celebrate the purple and gold on Saturday, Oct. 5, as the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point offers Homecoming, Spud Bowl and Family Day, with something for every member of the Pointer family. 

Activities for all ages will be offered at the Homecoming Hotspot from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Goerke Park in Stevens Point. This year’s Homecoming Hotspot features: 

  • Alumni reunions 
  • Food trucks, including Stevie’s 
  • College showcases 
  • Celebrating School of Education Advising Coordinator Maggie Beeber 
  • Axe throwing for all ages 
  • Homecoming giveaways (while supplies last) 
  • Inflatable games and face painting 
  • DJ and photobooth 
  • Circus performers 
  • UWSP merch for sale 
  • Pointer Pep Band 
  • Mascots Stevie and the exclusive return of Stephanie Pointer  

Join Stevie and Stephanie Pointer at 10 a.m. in the Dreyfus University Center concourse for a renewal of commitment to UWSP during Pointer Pairs. Whether you met your significant other, best friend or partner for life at UWSP, all Pointer Pairs are invited to come together and celebrate your lasting connection as Pointers for life. This special event will feature a throwback with Stephanie Pointer and includes an exclusive Pointer Pairs T-shirt. Registration is required for $10. The Pointers football team takes on the UW-Stout Blue Devils at 1 p.m. at Goerke Field. Tickets may be purchased at the gate that day. Spud Bowl and Homecoming are mashed together this year, so be on the lookout for potato-themed fun and activities at Goerke Park before and during the football game.  

Planetarium programs will run hourly on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., except for the noon hour. Shows will be held in the Allen F. Blocher Planetarium on the second floor of the Science Building and are free and open to the public. 

Schmeeckle Reserve will offer free canoeing and kayaking on Lake Joanis from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Visitors Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering free coffee and hot cocoa.

The UW-Stevens Point Doctor of Physical Therapy Students student organization are hosting a 5K race through Schmeeckle Reserve at 10 a.m. on October 5.  For more information and registration visit: https://runsignup.com/Race/WI/StevensPoint/UWSPHomecoming5K

During the week, student activities will include a movie and ice cream social, Homecoming Olympics “Minute to Win It” games, canoe “Battleship” in Champions Hall pool, bingo night, trivia and bed races. More information at: https://www.uwsp.edu/student-homecoming-events/

Alumni members of the Black Student Union and Black Student Coalition will meet for a reunion on Saturday, Oct. 5, in the Dreyfus University Center, Alumni Room. Come together for refreshments and a unique storytelling session where you can share your memories from your time at UW-Stevens Point. Whether through a story, song, prose, dance or any other form, participants are welcome to express themselves in a way that feels most meaningful. On Sunday, Oct. 6, join current students from 1-3 p.m. for a community-wide clean-up led by the UWSP Student Government Association. Email sga.president@uwsp.edu for information.
