The annual photography, artwork and writing contest inspired by the natural beauty of Schmeeckle Reserve is underway.

Submissions for the Friends of Schmeeckle Reserve annual Writing, Art and Photo Contest will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m. The contest aims to raise awareness of the reserve and the Friends group, whose members work to support the area year-round.

Winners of the contest are honored at a reception each year. Entries must include original work and should be inspired by and based on Schmeeckle Reserve. Entries can be submitted under the following categories.

  • Artwork can use any medium of your choice (paintings, sculptures etc.). Entries must be submitted at the Schmeeckle Reserve Visitor Center, 2419 North Point Drive, Stevens Point. 
  • Writing can be an essay, poem or story. Entries must be submitted by email to info@friendsofschmeeckle.org as a word document, PDF or plain text format. 
  • Photography must be submitted via email to info@friendsofschmeeckle.org as a JPEG, TIFF, PNG, or GIF file. Images should be high resolution and suitable for print and digital display.
