Students get first-hand experiences and a powerful immersive learning opportunity through the UWSP Department of Sociology and Social Work as they travel to work directly with a variety of social justice organizations.
These offerings are game changers to give students the chance to apply what they have learned in the classroom to real world social justice endeavors. In 2024, our students travelled to Detroit, Mich. to collaborate and learn from community leaders. Students will come away forever changed and eager to lead changes for social justice organizations.
Experiences include:
- Community service projects
- Poverty simulations
- Anti-racism training
- Workshops on gentrification, human-trafficking, or environmental justice
Support Justice Journeys!
Did field education impact your career development? Want to support the next generation of working social justice advocates? Our Sociology and Social Work faculty are focused on growing these impactful opportunities. Alumni and friends can play a big part. When you invest in Justice Journeys, UWSP can support this crucial applied learning through a lasting endowment fund to directly benefit undergraduates.
TRIPS WITH LASTING IMPACT
These impactful hands-on field experiences require additional university resources and expenses such as travel, board, tour fees, and other service costs.
With your contribution, UWSP can sustain resources for travel and offset fees for yearly field experiences. Justice Journeys puts students on the ground in communities to directly learn from partners who work to solve today’s pressing community needs. The endowment for the Department of Sociology and Social Work supports yearly trips to visit a host of urban community organizations that deepen student understanding.
Help us expand immersive learning opportunities! Thank you in advance for working with us to build strong collaborators and impact the next generation of Sociology and Social Work students in Justice Journeys.
