Looking for an on-campus job?
Be one of the 2,000+ students who work on-campus while attending UW-Stevens Point! Students enrolled in six or more credits can find part-time and summer seasonal full-time jobs, either on or off campus, through the online job board, Quest.
Both Federal Work-Study and Non-Federal Work-Study employment options are available to students. Work-study is a federally funded program for students with demonstrated financial need. The only real difference between work-study and any other job is how a job is funded; The employer pays a portion, and the federal government pays a portion. Many students debate whether to take advantage of this program. This money can be used by students as “spending” money to help pay for living expenses.
National studies indicate students who work up to 20 hours per week on campus do as well academically (if not better) than their non-working peers. Having an on-campus job provides students with another means to make a connection to campus, meet new people, and earn a few dollars.
Using your work-study also allows you to apply for jobs that are not always available to all students, as some departments are only able to hire students who have been awarded work-study.
Student employment resources
Quest is provided free of charge to employers and to student job seekers. All hiring and compensation for work performed by student employees is handled directly between the student and the employer. Campus Activities and Student Engagement does not perform background checks on students applying for jobs, nor on employers posting job opportunities. Employers and students are encouraged to request reference information from each other as needed to establish qualifications, credentials, and overall fit between the employer and the student applicant.
Students seeking internships or post-graduation career opportunities should connect with UWSP Academic & Career Advising Center (ACAC).
University Centers (UC) offers valuable real-world experience to boost your portfolio, enhance your marketability, and be career-ready. UC is one of the largest employers on campus and proudly employs over 260 students. Head to QUEST to see our open positions.
International Students
Most international students are eligible to work on campus. However, few international students are eligible to work off-campus. You will find jobs continually posted on our website. Stop by the CASE Office for assistance.
Note: All international students, except permanent residents, interested in working off-campus must contact the International Student and Scholars Office. This is for your protection and to ensure your eligibility to stay in the country.
All students who work on campus must have proof of their eligibility to work. If you plan on working while attending UW-Stevens Point or have already located a job, you must apply for a Social Security card. UWSP requires this document for all employees.
