Steve Schmidt Steve joined LEAF – Wisconsin’s K-12 Forestry Education Program in 2018. His work supports the school forest program, in particular, with other LEAF/WCEE projects related to his experiences in science education. He has a BS in Environmental Science from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and an MS in Natural Resources (Fisheries) from UWSP. Steve taught pre-K- college science for over 20 years, including after-school science and school forest programs. He is an ARMADA Project Master teacher who was fortunate to have participated in climate science research aboard the USCGC – Healy in the Arctic Ocean in 2004. Steve enjoys spending time with his family, especially on Washington Island, Door County, WI, bird hunting with his retriever Griffin, and exploring the waters of Lake Michigan from a kayak or with underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
