Bio

Artur Stefanski is an Assistant Professor of Forestry within the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. His primary interests are in plant physiology and ecology, plant-plant and plant-environment interactions, forest ecosystem function and dynamics, and how those processes and relationships will be affected by future climate. He is also interested in developing new scientific methods and techniques, and in the application of new technological advances into research. Specifically in the detection of traits and responses of plants utilizing spectral reflectance on a leaf level as well as temporal and spatial scaling. Artur received an Engineering and master’s degree in forestry from the August Cieszkowski Life Sciences University in Poznan, Poland, master’s degree in integrated Biosciences, and a Ph.D. in Natural Resources Science and Management from the University of Minnesota.

Fun Facts

What do you enjoy most about teaching?

Interacting with students and sharing knowledge and experience.

A piece of advice for students?

If you want to be a true forester you need to know (and actually practice it) how to plant, cut, and burn the forest.
