Most students who enroll in the COFAC are driven by a passion to learn and grow in an area of special interest. During their time on campus, their varied academic and hands-on experiences open new doors to potential career paths, leading them to discover their purpose. Our students receive a comprehensive education, one that fully embraces a strong general education foundation, encompassing a broad exposure to multiple disciplines—from foundational skills in oral and written communication, critical thinking, quantitative literacy, to studies in human cultures and sciences, to social and environmental responsibility. Beyond a general education, our students select from a wide variety of liberal arts and professional degree programs for more in-depth study in specialized areas of interest and high-level multidisciplinary collaborations. Our proactive approach to new program development, through consultation with professional contacts and organizations, helps us to anticipate future workplace challenges and trends, invest in technological advances, and adapt hands-on experiences that best prepare students for careers and/or graduate studies.
Graduates from the COFAC are well-prepared to enter the professional world. Through their coursework and hands-on learning experiences our students develop life-long skills that readily transfer to ever-changing workplace needs—adaptability, collaboration, communication/presentation, sensitivity, empathy, and creativity. The faculty strongly encourage risk-taking, with a focus on critical thinking and the creative process to overcome challenges and to develop confidence through enhanced problem-solving and communication skills.
