WISCONSIN K-12 FORESTRY LESSON GUIDES

The LEAF Wisconsin K-12 Forestry Education Lesson Guide includes complete interdisciplinary units for teaching Students about forests and forestry in Wisconsin.

These guides include Unit-Based lessons, divided by grade levels (K-1, 2-3, 4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9-12), Career Explorations for students to explore forestry-related careers, and Field Enhancements for hands-on learning.

Wisconsin K-12 Urban Forest Lesson Guide

This guide supplements the Wisconsin K-12 Forestry Education Lesson Guide.

The Urban Forest Lesson Guide helps Wisconsin teachers educate students about the value of and need for our urban forests and helps teachers in urban areas teach the importance of forests in general by using familiar urban forest surroundings to engage students and ultimately make the Wisconsin K-12 Forestry Lesson Guide units more relevant.

Wisconsin K-12 Wildland Fire Lesson Guide

This guide supplements the Wisconsin K-12 Forestry Education Lesson Guide.

This lesson guide focuses on the economic, social, and ecological implications of wildland fire in Wisconsin. This guide includes one age-appropriate lesson for each LEAF Unit (K-1, 2-3, 4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-12). The lessons teach processes and skills and include online resources.

LEAF Conceptual Guide

Forest related topics cover a wide array of information, which could be overwhelming to understand and teach. This framework divides forestry education into teachable concepts, and is organized ina  manner that makes them easy to communicate. The framework is not a curriculum itself, but the structure around which activities and lessons in the K-12 Lesson Guide have been built. The framework is designed to evolve as forestry education evolves. We encourage educators to modify and add to this framework as curriculum is developed to best meet their needs.

Curriculum Bundles

Materials for all curriculum bundles are housed in google folders and resources can be downloaded, edited, shared, and printed. LEAF currently offers curriculum bundles for ‘Understanding Community Systems’ and ‘Forest Products.’

Lessons For Forester Professionals
