The Forest Management for Wildlife Habitat Demonstration Sites were designed to provide foresters, natural resource professionals, landowners, and the public with the knowledge and skills to execute forest management with an emphasis on wildlife habitat.
The demo sites cover several ecosystems. Many are located in central Wisconsin while others are in the west-central and northeastern parts of the state. They showcase several types of harvest methods. Management practices that can be applied to small parcels and commercially on large forest tracts have been integrated. They illustrate prescribed forest management techniques, including timber marking, harvest systems, regrowth, and wildlife response.
