Teaching to Transgress: Education as the Practice of Freedom, by bell hooks was the last non-fiction book that I read and, Kindred, by Octavia Butler was the last fiction book that I read. I’m usually in the middle of a couple of books at a time. Best advice you ever received? Surround yourself with good, critical friends. What did you want to be when you were growing up? A teacher! Favorite Quote? “If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” – Toni Morrison What do you enjoy most about teaching? I love interacting with diverse groups of students with varied experiences and world views. They inspire me to learn and grow, and when I’m teaching well, I know that I’m doing the same for them.
