Xōchipilli Bustamante

Hi everyone! I’m Xōchipilli Bustamante and I’m so excited to share my story with you. I use they/them pronouns and I identify as Latine and autistic. I’m also a first-generation college grad who earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and International Studies with an Emphasis on Global and East Asia, Minors in Art History and Philosophy from UWSP in 2017.

I was born and raised in California by my sedulous undocumented parents who taught me the value of hard work, resilience, and community. I moved to Wisconsin in 2010 and I fell in love with the area, the people, the snow, and the cheese. I also discovered my passion for queer activism and social justice, which led me to join various organizations and campaigns throughout my time as a student here. I have over 10 years of experience in advocating for equity and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community along with educating myself and advocating for all marginalized communities.

Some of my hobbies include playing video games, collecting cute things, discussing and developing queer theory, and deconstructing the socialized norms that maintain our systemic oppression.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to engage in this work to support folks in our communities like yourself. I hope you find community, friends, family, and most importantly, you. I am proud of who I have become and I’m excited to share that with you as we grow together.
