Chris Hanten

BIO

Chris Hanten joined the Department of Sociology and Social Work at UWSP in 2025. Hanten has interests in sociology and social work which makes the integrated opportunities at UWSP a good fit. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 30 years of social work practice experience, with experience in public and private agencies. Hanten has practiced at all levels of social work from direct practice to administration of social work and mental health programs. Her practice areas have included children and families, juvenile delinquency, foster care, child welfare, mental health, suicide prevention, and community-based services with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Hanten has specialized training and interest in topic areas related to adoption, foster care, and children/adults impacted by grief and loss in family systems.
