Elspeth Eckendorf What did you want to be when you were growing up? In elementary school: A marine biologist. My mom has told me that as a very young child, I would say I wanted to be a clothespin so I could “hang around” outside all day. As you can see, aspirations change over time. Favorite quote? “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” A piece of advice for students pursuing education in your department? Prioritize your classwork as much as possible and then any extra time you have for other activities becomes that much more enjoyable.
