Questions or Feedback

If you have a question about Sustainability at UWSP, please email Rob Manzke, Executive Assistant to the Chancellor.

Our pledge to becoming more environmentally and socially responsible global citizens.

WELCOME

In the fall of 2007, former Chancellor Linda Bunnell created the Sustainability Task Force to meet the requirements of the Presidents’ Climate Commitment and create a comprehensive report which identifies areas of strength and challenges. The Sustainability Task Force will present their recommendations in the fall of 2009. These recommendations will serve as a guide for the campus to follow in order to meet our goal of becoming a carbon neutral campus.

Additionally, UWSP has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability through many avenues:

  • Completed a Greenhouse Gas Inventory to help understand the campus carbon footprint.
  • Joined with regional organizations to promote ride share options.
  • The UWSP residence halls currently operate at 53% green energy through the NatureWise program.
  • Co-hosted the Climate Change Summit - Wisconsin Communities Take Action with the Office of the Lt. Governor.
  • UWSP will build a new residence hall which will meet (or exceed) LEED Silver standards.
  • The LRC’s green roof contains five different types of plants that effectively absorb up to one inch of rainwater.

We welcome your comments, suggestions, and input as we move forward with our commitment to sustainability. Please feel free to contact members of the Sustainability Task Force or attend one of their upcoming meetings to learn more about what you can do to help.
