Documents
UWSP has pledged sustainability on a larger scale by
becoming a signatory of two of the most important documents
for universities regarding a commitment to sustainability,
the Talloires Declaration and the American College and
University President's Climate Change Commitment (ACUPCC).

*Talloires
Declaration
- Composed in 1990 at an international conference
in Talloires, France, this is the first official statement
made by university administrators of a commitment to
environmental sustainability in higher education. The
Talloires Declaration (TD) is a ten-point action plan for
incorporating sustainability and environmental literacy in
teaching, research, operations and outreach at colleges and
universities. It has been signed by over 350 university
presidents and chancellors in over 40 countries.
*ACUPCC
- The American College and
University President’s Climate Change Commitment (ACUPCC) is
a high-visibility effort to address global warming by
garnering institutional
commitments to neutralize greenhouse gas emissions, and to
accelerate the research and educational efforts of higher
education to equip society to re-stabilize the earth’s
climate.
Take a look at the Campus Master Plan to see how UWSP
plans to incorporate sustainability into its campus in years
to come. A link to the plan can be accessed on the right
side of this page.
As a part of the ACUPCC and Chancellor's Climate
Commitment, the Sustainability Task Force is currently
researching and working to compile a greenhouse gas
inventory and create a plan for climate neutrality for UWSP,
both of which are to be completed in the near future. Once
the plans are completed, they will be made available in this
portion of the UWSP sustainability website.
