FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO I HAVE TO LIVE ON CAMPUS AND HAVE A MEAL PLAN?
UWSP Housing follows the UW Board of Regents’ live-on requirement. This state’s students are required to live on campus their first two years (first-year and sophomore) after their high school graduation. For more information regarding the policy, commuting requests, and exceptions to the policy, please view the full live-on requirement here.
The UWSP Housing Contract requires that all students living in traditional residence halls participate in a meal plan. A dining plan waiver may only be granted for documented medical conditions. If you would like to request an exemption, please submit a Dining Plan Exemption Request Form.
WHERE DO I SELECT MY ROOM AND MEAL PLAN?
Accepted students will choose a room and meal plan through the UWSP Housing Portal. We encourage all students to review the living options outlined on the Housing and Residence Life and University Dining Plan websites so they are prepared to complete the online housing contract and application.
Steps for “How to Apply”
WHEN DOES MY MEAL PLAN BEGIN?
The meal plan will begin the day you move to campus. Each dining location offers a variety of menus and food offerings, learn more here. The meal plan is valid during the semester, but all dining locations are closed during break periods (fall, winter, spring).
HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED IN THE HALLS?
The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is a student body created to provide help for students across all aspects of residence life. They are dedicated to making the campus living experience better for residents by recommending policy changes and providing special events and social issue programs.
Labor of Love is a one-time commitment where first-year students and residence hall staff go into the Stevens Point community and provide service ranging from cleaning local parks, to assisting campus community neighbors. Please see the list of groups for more information.
