Liberal Arts Essay Scholarship Competition
1 - $2,000 award for UW Colleges' student
2 - $2,000 scholarships for students at UW System comprehensive and doctoral institutions
To support and promote liberal arts education throughout the UW Colleges and System. Open to students enrolled in the UW System. Completion of a minimum of 30 credits by the end of the Spring 2005 semester with at least one semester remaining as a full time student before graduating. Requires at least a 3.4 gpa. Application is a 1,000 -1.250 essay (double-spaced and type-written) discussing the importance of the Liberal Arts in the 21st century. Title page should show the title of the essay, student name, major, student number, local address, e-mail address and telephone number. Essay must be electronically sent to opid@uwsa.edu. Letters from two UW College instructors and a current transcript are part of the application materials and must also be submitted to the email address mentioned above. John Jury Involvement Scholarship
$100
Recipient will be residence hall student who has gotten the most students involved and who has been actively involved with community service. Recipient is chosen through a nomination process
Awarded: Spring
**Additional John Jury Involvement Scholarship awards ($100 each) are given for Organization Officer of the Year, Community Service Leader of the Year, Student Employee of the Year and Programmer of the Year. There is no application process; recipients are selected by various award committees.

Roger Lewis Scholarship Fund

Graduate of a Portage County, Wis., high school. Continuing full-time UWSP student with at least one full semester remaining to degree completion. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Demonstrated significant voluntary commitment to a humanitarian cause or activity in Portage Co. Single parents, widows, orphans or students with financial need may be given preference.

Program fee or up to $50, more than one award per semester

Amount varies
Recipient must have been initiated into Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity or be the son of daughter of an initiate of Epsilon-Nu Chapters of TKE at UWSP. Grade point, recommendations, financial need, campus and community involvement are considered.
